Take the Tour

Along the narrow coast of the Pacific Northwest, the native Indian tribes established one of the most extraordinary societies known to man. Buttressed by mountains of the Coast Ranges and battered by Puget Sound’s relentless surge, the area has a stunning variety of natural features. These features range from the glacier-clad Cascade peaks to shadowy rain forests to scalloped tidal pools at the sea’s edge. With abundant resources available from the sea, the rivers and the forests, the Indians developed a rich, distinctive culture and a vigorous artistic style. The result was a rich mythology, a society which was always conscious of the forces of nature on which it depended, and carefully conceived rituals for reconciling the human and spirit worlds.

Experience the glacier-clad peaks and untamed shore lines along with dramatic ceremonial masks, carved bowels and helmets in the forms of clan animals that reflect the legends and customs of the first people.
